46 x 33 inches.


Materials : Medium Worsted weight yarn in 7- oz/340 yd skeins. 2 skeins Color A. 1 skein each of colors B & C. Size I, 5.5 mm crochet hook.


Gauge: First 4 rounds of granny square= 4.5 inches.


Example was made with Color A: Vannah's Choice Baby, 2 skeins 100 white. Color B: 1 skein 108 Bluebell. Color C: Vannah's Choice 1 skein 109 Colonial Blue.


Color order:

Round/rows1-2: Color A

3-4: Color B

5-6: Color C

7: Color A

Make 1 seven-round granny square as follows:

Round 1: With color A, Ch 4, sl st to form ring, ch 3, 2 dc in ring, (ch 2, 3 dc in ring) 3 times. ch 1, sc in top of beg ch-3.


Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc around sc. *Ch 1, (3 dc,ch 2, 3dc) in next ch-2 sp. Repeat from * twice. Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp. ch 1, sc in top of beg ch-2. end off A. Join B.


Round 3: With B, Ch 2, 2 dc around sc. *Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1, (3 dc,ch 2, 3dc) in next ch-2 sp. Repeat from * twice. (Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp) twice. Ch 1, sc in top of beg ch-2.


Round 4: Ch 2, 2 dc around sc. *(Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp) twice. Ch 1, (3 dc,ch 2, 3dc) in next ch-2 sp. Repeat from * twice. (Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp) 3 times. Ch 1, sc in top of beg ch-2. End off B, Join C.


Round 5: With C, Ch 2, 2 dc around sc. *(Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp) 3 times. Ch 1, (3 dc,ch 2, 3dc) in next ch-2 sp. Repeat from * twice. (Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp) 4 times. Ch 1, sc in top of beg ch-2.


Round 6: Ch 2, 2 dc around sc. *(Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp) 4 times. Ch 1, (3 dc,ch 2, 3dc) in next ch-2 sp. Repeat from * twice. (Ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp) 5 times. Ch 1, sc in top of turning ch. End off C, Join A.

note: Repeat same color order for the rows.


Row 1: Skip 4 shells, join Color A in the next ch-1 sp. Ch 3, make 2 dc in same space. ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1) in each of the next 2 ch sps. (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp. ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1) in each of the next 2 sps. 3 dc in next sp.


Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1) turn, (3 dc, ch 1) in each of the next 3 ch sps. (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp. ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1) in each of the next 3 sps. Dc in top of turning ch-3. End off A, Join B.

Row 6: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1) turn, (3 dc, ch 1) in each of the next 5 ch sps. (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp. ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1) in each of the next 5 sps. Dc in top of turning ch-3. End off C, Join A.


Row 7: With A, Ch 3, turn. 2 dc in first sp, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1) in each of the next 5 sps. (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1) in each of the next 5 sps. 2 dc in turning ch sp, dc in 3rd ch of turning ch. end off.


Rows 8-14: Repeat rows 1-7.


Turn piece around and repeat rows 1-14 on opposite corner of center square.


Turn piece and work on side ripples.


Row 1: Count from corner on last row made. Skip 4 shells, join A in the next ch-1 sp. Ch 3, make 2 dc in same space. Ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1) in each of the next 2 ch sps. *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in top of end dc st. #ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1) in each of the next 2 sps, 3 dc in next sp, turn corner, (3 dc, ch 1) in each of the next 3 ch sps. repeat from *. ^ (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp, Repeat from # to ^. Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1) turn,* (3 dc, ch 1) in each of the next 3 ch sps. (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp. ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1) in each of the next 2 sps. 3 dc in next sp. Sk 2 shells, repeat from * across row. end row with ch 1, dc in top of turning ch. End off A, Join B.


Row 3: With B, Ch 3, turn. 2 dc in first sp, ch 1, *(3 dc, ch 1) in each ch-1 sp. (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1) in next 2 sps. 3 dc in next sp. Turn corner, repeat from * across row. End with, ch 1, 2 dc in turning ch sp, dc in 3rd ch of turning ch.


Rows 4-7: repeat rows 2-3 twice; Changing colors with the established pattern. (Each row will have more shells in the last repeat.)


Rows 8-14: Repeat rows 1-7.


Repeat for other side.


Turn Piece and work end ripples same as side ripples for 7 rows.


Border: Using Color A, Work ripple around entire piece for 1 round.

Materials: Lion Brand Mandala Yarn is a self striping size 3 sport weight yarn. 4 skeins Genie.

Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook. Gauge: rounds 1-2, 3 inches across side to side.

Finished size: 52 inches side to side. (As opposed to corner to corner or point to point.)


Notes:

Pattern may omit skipping chain spaces and certain stitches, when the next stitch you work into is the first of its kind. For example, if you are to sc in the next sc, but there are dc and chain stitches before it, you simply skip those. The skip will be noted in the pattern in places where it otherwise would be confusing.

Optional:

1)Mark the sl st at the end of the round.

2)Mark the end of the 4th repeat on every round. It makes it easier to know when to go to the last part of the round.


Special Stitches:


V - V-stitch : (Dc, ch 2, dc) in one space or stitch.


Beg cl - Beginning cluster : ch 2, yo, insert hook into stitch, draw up a loop (3 loops on hook),

yo draw through 2. (2 loops on hook). yo, insert hook into same stitch, draw up a loop, (4 loops on hook) yo draw through 2. (3 loops on hook) Yo and draw through 3 loops.


Cl - Cluster : Yo, insert hook into stitch, draw up a loop (3 loops on hook),

yo draw through 2. (2 loops on hook). yo, insert hook into same stitch, draw up a loop, (4 loops on hook) yo draw through 2. (3 loops on hook) yo, insert hook into same stitch, draw up a loop, (5 loops on hook).yo draw through 2. (4 loops on hook). Yo and draw through 4 loops.


Fpsc - Front post single crochet: Insert hook on the right side and out the left side of the stitch below, draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2. (Basically you are making a sc around the post in front of the stitch.)


Fptr - Front post treble crochet: Yo twice, insert hook on the right side and out the left side of the stitch below, draw up a loop, (yo and draw through 2.) 3 times (Basically you are making a tr around the post in front of the stitch.)


L&S - Leaf & stem stitch: (Cl, ch 2, dc, ch 2, cl) in same stitch. Cl represents leaves, and dc represents a stem. When working into this stitch instructions will say to work in stem, which is the dc in this stitch.


Pc - Popcorn stitch : Make 5 dc in the same stitch. Remove hook from loop. Insert hook into the first dc, pick up loop and draw it through. Ch 1. (don't forget the ch-1 ending this stitch!)


Bpsc Back post single crochet : Insert hook back to front on the right side and front to back on the left side of the stitch below, draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2. (Basically you are making a sc around the post in back of the stitch.)


Directions:


Part 1; Center:


Beginning at center, ch 6, sl st to first ch to form a ring.


Round 1: Ch 2, (counts as a dc) Dc in ring. (Ch 2, 2 dc in ring) 5 times. Ch 2, sl st in top of beginning ch-2. 12 dc, 6 ch-2 spaces.


Round 2: Ch 2, dc in next dc,

* V (see special stitches) in next ch-2 space. Dc in next 2 dc.

Repeat from * 4 times.
