Materials: Medium worsted weight yarn. Sample used Red Heart Super saver in 7-oz skeins for solids and 5 oz skeins for multicolored yarns. 2 skeins each Turqua (A)& White (B), 1 skein each Rainbow Bright (C), and bright yellow (D). A size I/9 (5.5 mm) and a size H/8 (5 mm) crochet hook.




Gauge: Rows 1-7 is 4 inches deep and row 4 is 4 inches wide.



Notes:


Pattern is written in US terminology.


Stitching begins in one corner and is worked diagonally.


It will appear to be a triangle through the half-way mark.


Draw in tail as you go.


Turning ch-4 counts as a dc, ch-1.


Turning ch-3 counts as a dc.

Directions:



Using larger hook, Ch 5, sl st to form ring.



Row 1: Ch 4, (3 dc, ch 1, dc) in ring. Turn.



Row 2: Ch 4, 3 dc in first ch-1 sp, skip 3 dc, (3 dc, ch 1, dc) in last ch-1 sp. Turn.



Row 3: Ch 4, 3 dc in first ch-1 sp, skip 3 dc, 3 dc in space between sets of 3-dc, (3 dc, ch 1, dc) in last ch-1 sp. Turn.



Row 4: Ch 4, 3 dc in first ch-1 sp, skip 3 dc, 3 dc in each space between sets of 3-dc, (3 dc, ch 1, dc) in last ch-1 sp. Turn.



Repeat row 4 until there are 60 rows. (3rd of the 5 rows of color A)



Row 61: (center row) Ch 3, 3 dc in first ch-1 sp, skip 3 dc, 3 dc in each space between sets of 3-dc, 4 dc in last ch-1 sp. (Mark ends for working corner border later. ) Turn.



Row 62: Ch 3, skip 4 dc, 3 dc in each space between sets of 3-dc, dc in last dc (turning ch-3). Turn.



Row 63: Ch 3, skip 3 dc, 3 dc in each space between sets of 3-dc, dc in last dc (turning ch-3). Turn.



Repeat row 63 until you have just one 3-dc group. Turn.



Final row: Ch 3, sl st in top of chain 3 of this row.



Border: Using smaller hook, begin with color B in any corner.



Round 1: Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner. * 3 dc in end of each row across. (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner. 

Repeat from * 3 times. 3 dc in end of each row across. End with a sl st in first dc. Break off B.



Round 2: With A, sc in each dc around, making 3 sc in each corner ch-2 space.



Round 3: Sl st in each sc around. Break off A & draw in tails.



Block if necessary.
