Back To Basics: Sampler Crochet Scarf

This scarf is designed for the beginner crocheter to practice the different crochet stitches.
Materials: 7 oz of medium worsted weight yarn, Size I/9 (5.5mm) crochet hook.
Gauge: Does not matter for this pattern.
Notes: 1) It helps to count your stitches at the end of each row.
(Sample should has 26 stitches in each row.)
2. Edges of scarf will be slightly wavy due to the differences in the openness of the stitches.
Directions:
Make a chain the width you desire (Sample is 7 inches/26 chains) plus 1 ch.
Row 1: Sc in each ch across.
Rows 2-7: Ch 1, sc in each sc across.
Row 8: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc, sk first sc) hdc in each sc across.
Rows 9-14: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc, sk first hdc) hdc in each hdc across.
Row 15: Ch 3 (counts as first dc, sk first hdc) dc in each hdc across.
Rows 16-21: Ch 3 (counts as first dc, sk first dc) dc in each dc across.
Row 17: Ch 4 (counts as first tr, sk first dc) tr in each dc across.
Rows 18-23: Ch 4 (counts as first tr, sk first tr) tr in each tr across.
Row 24: Ch 1, sc in each tr across, sc in 4th ch (top) of the beg ch.
Rep rows 2- 24 until scarf measures desired length.
Finish off and hide tails.
